Children’s dental screening event

On 8th June 2024, Nishkam Healthcare Trust conducted a comprehensive dental and BMI screening event for children aged 3-11 years. This event provided critical insights into the oral health and overall wellness of the participating children.

In total, 22 children came along to the event, and of these, 14 were deemed to require urgent dental care. Six children had dental decay, and nine children had plaque.

In terms of assessing the frequency of dental care, ten children had visited a dentist over a year ago, and three children had never visited a dentist. It was clear that most children with regular check-ups had better oral health, highlighting the importance of bi-annual dental visits.

Notably, a significant number of girls had never visited a dentist, indicating a gap in dental healthcare access.

Parents gave valuable feedback at the event, highlighting the challenge of obtaining dental appointments for their children, emphasising the need for easier access to dental care.

The event also included interactive sessions with parents on dental care, as well as engaging activities for children to promote oral health awareness. Volunteer doctors at Nishkam Healthcare Trust delivered informative discussions on BMI and overall child health.
